WEALDEN NEWS
Wealden District Council has passed a Conservative motion at Full Council giving wholehearted support to the 10:10 campaign which calls on a 10% reduction of our CO2 emissions by 2010. Wealden continues to take steps to tackle climate change and support for the 10:10 campaign which will help raise public awareness of what actions businesses and individuals can do to reduce their carbon emissions.
Councillor Pam Doodes - Leader to Wealden District Council stated that “Wealden District Council has been working for a number of years investigating ways to reduce its carbon emissions. Our approach has been to achieve steady annual progress. Our Sustainability Strategy, Climate Change Policy and our Action Plan are already focussing our direction, ably managed by our Sustainability Officer. At present we are conducting 3 high level reviews which will help us focus attention on where we best should invest to save and reduce our carbon emissions.”
The 10:10 campaign is designed to engage with individuals and organisations to encourage an urgent and significant reduction in C02 emissions. Wealden is well aware of the need for carbon reduction and the need to encourage others and is delighted to continue to lead the way by supporting the 10:10 Campaign.
