Hendry against landraise
|
Wealden MP and Minister for Energy Charles Hendry comments on landraise consultation. Charles Hendry said: “I welcome the news that ESCC will continue to have an informal consultation with regard to the proposed landraise sites. “The new Government’s policies will make it more and more unlikely that new landfill or landraise facilities will be built, as costs of such approaches will continue to escalate. The Government will be developing a more joined up approach to waste, to achieve more from recycling and energy generation. “I recently visited the composting facility at Whitesmith and the Waste Transfer Station at Maresfield, to see the work going on, on the ground. These are very innovative methods of dealing with waste and we need to continue to look for 21st century solutions and move on from outdated ways of dealing with waste. “I will continue to ensure that my complete opposition to such inappropriate facilities will be relayed to the County Council.”
