Covid-19 and the CPF

New Discussion Paper from Conservative Policy Forum

Life as we knew it has been turned upside-down. We are currently unable to socialise in the same ways as previously we have all too often taken for granted. Nevertheless, democratic government continues and we in the Conservative Policy Forum want to play our part to encourage and support one another, to help hold our communities together and to contribute to the wise leadership of our country.

Since the May elections have been cancelled, we want to encourage CPF Members in every constituency to discuss their response to the coronavirus pandemic. Since we can no longer meet in groups we want to encourage all CPF Groups to host online discussions and, as usual, to report back centrally.

We have therefore published a new consultation paper, on the current health crisis.

We have also produced a separate guide, “How to set up and host CPF Meetings on Zoom”.

Policy Pitch Competition

Members' Policy Debate: Online 3rd April 6-7pm

Following the success of the Members' Debate at last year's Party conference in Manchester, we organised another live policy session for Spring Forum.

We invited members from across the party to submit their top policy ideas, and from over 200 submissions we've whittled it down to five finalists. Unfortunately, Spring Forum has been cancelled due to COVID-19, but the need for new policy ideas is still as important as ever, so we are taking the competition online!

As a CPF member you can grill the candidates on the details of their policy idea at the online debate, and vote for your favourite policy idea. Find out more about each of our finalists' policies and cast your vote for your favourite idea at

Voting will be open until 6th April, 5pm and the winner will be announced on 7th April.

Who will be our next Voluntary Director?

And our new Voluntary Director is...

As part of our online Members' Debate, our Chairman John Penrose will also be unveiling the identity of our new Voluntary Director, elected by the National Convention. This person will be the voice of the membership for the next three years.

You will need to join our new Members' Forum to vote and to join the debate. Registration is easy and free: simply visit the website, complete the "Join" form and then RSVP to the event.

Stay at home, stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you online soon!
