Margaret Thatcher Conference

Tuesday, 25th June 2019
All day conference

The Centre for Policy Studies is staging its annual Margaret Thatcher Conference on 25 June 2019 'Britain and America'. It will be held at the Guildhall in central London in association with the City of London and The Daily Telegraph.

This year, in order to mark the 40th anniversary of Lady Thatcher’s arrival in Downing Street, the Conference will examine the relationship between Britain and America, which is as central today as it was then. The relationship between London and Washington has been the central axis of UK foreign policy for decades, but a new age brings new challenges.

The US-UK relationship will be examined from the economic, diplomatic and philosophical angles with contributions from experts in each field from both sides of the Atlantic including a speech from the Rt Hon Dr Liam Fox, Secretary of State for International Trade.

Further speakers include:

· Robert Wood Johnson, the US Ambassador to the UK

· The Rt Hon George Osborne, Editor Evening Standard, Former Chancellor of the Exchequer

· Anne Applebaum, Washington Post journalist

· Catherine McGuinness, Chair, Policy & Resources Committee, City of London Corporation

· John Glenn MP, Economic Secretary to the Treasury and City Minister

· Dr Andy Palmer, President and CEO, Aston Martin Lagonda

The conference also provides multiple networking opportunities including an exclusive post-conference dinner which will be addressed by a senior Cabinet Minister.
