NOMINATE COMMUNITY HEROES

Wealden District Council is looking for nominations for the Chairman’s Community Volunteer Awards. The successful nominees will be presented with their awards at the Chairman’s annual Civic Reception on Friday 1 March 2019 at Herstmonceux Castle.

HIGH STREET SUPPORT WELCOMED

Wealden MP Nus Ghani has welcomed measures included in the Autumn Budget designed to support high streets such as Uckfield, Hailsham, Crowborough and Forest Row.

WEALDEN'S PARLIAMENTARY TOUR

Fifty East Sussex residents joined Wealden MP Nus Ghani for a tour of Parliament along with a chat and discussion about all things Wealden and Westminster.

The group came from the towns and villages all over Wealden, including Hailsham, Crowborough, Uckfield,  Horam and Groombridge.

MP'S BACKING FOR FOREST ROW ENERGY

Nus Ghani, the MP for Wealden and Forest Row, met with Forest Row Energy, a community energy group who provide green energy solutions for the local Forest Row community.

EAST SUSSEX FIRE UPDATE by Cllr Roy Galley

THE overall number of fires in the county is down by about 50% in the last 20 years but the Fire and Rescue Service in East Sussex still deals with 9,500 incidents per year, of which 1,132 are so-called primary fires, that is fires which cause injury or affect property.

The first new tenants have been welcomed into Wealden's latest new-build development in St Mary’s Avenue Hailsham.
