RESIDENTS are being urged to be on their guard against cold callers charging hundreds of pounds for basic gardening services.

East Sussex Trading Standards has received a number of reports of cold callers in the Lewes and Seaford areas offering gardening and tree surgery.

INCREASED funding from Government is needed to protect vital council services, a report has warned. East Sussex County Council’s State of the County report details that the authority will face a budget gap of up to £15 million in 2020/21, if additional funding is not made available.

A MAJOR milestone in the development of a new primary school for Hailsham has been marked with a topping out ceremony. The event saw the final roof panel added to the 420-place Hailsham Community College Primary Academy in Park Road.

Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, opened a new Post Office in Mayfield. Accompanied by Cllr. Rupert Simmons, Nus met with Mrs Jo Eates, the new Post-Master in Wealden, alongside staff, and members of the public to cut a ribbon to open the Post Office.
