WEALDEN SCHOOLS WELCOME TO PARLIAMENT

Wealden MP Nus Ghani hosted a group of primary school pupils from Rotherfield Primary School in Parliament.

The group, who were visiting as part of a trip to London, were given a tour of Parliament followed by a questions and answers session with Nus Ghani.

WEALDEN SET FOR RECYCLING WEEK

Wealden residents are being thanked for the difference they make during National Recycle Week. And every other week of the year.

National Recycle Week, the national recycling campaign, runs from 25 September – 1 October.

MP BACKS LOCAL BUSINESSES

Nus Ghani, the MP for Wealden, visited Chapter 12 Bar and Kitchen in Hailsham, to show her support for local businesses and to help promote their new menu.

BACKING FOR WEALDEN VINEYARDS

Wealden MP Nus Ghani has expressed her support for the booming Wealden sparkling wine industry after visiting Bluebell Vineyard as it enters its 2018 harvest.

COMMUNITY GRANTS UP FOR GRABS

The amount available for a project through Wealden’s capital grant scheme has been increased to £15,000. It will provide extra help to community buildings in need of support. 

MORE POLICE ON SUSSEX STREETS

Sussex residents can be reassured that Sussex Police is continuing to strengthen local policing as well.  Since April the force has recruited 140 new constables, and last Wednesday evening saw the attestation ceremony for 70 new recruits who have just started their police training.

POTY CONTEST HOTS UP

Twenty-seven pubs from across Wealden have been nominated by Wealden residents for Wealden MP Nus Ghani’s pub of the year competition.

£70k LOTTERY FUNDING FOR WEALDEN PROJECTS

Wealden MP Nus Ghani was delighted to welcome news that seven Wealden community projects have won almost £70,000 of lottery funding from the Big Lottery Fund.

The Big Lottery Fund uses the proceeds of lottery tickets to support, grow and develop a wide variety of community projects.

INCREASING COUNCIL HOUSE STOCK

Conservative-controlled Wealden District Council is calling on the Government to increase the amount of money it can borrow so it can build an additional 214 council houses.
