Green lies

Cllr Roy Galley, standing for re-election in Danehill and Fletching Ward (including Piltdown, Isfield and Chelwood Gate) says:

"One of the main election issues in my Ward  as well as in the  Maresfield and the Buxted Wards is the planning application for a large extension to the Ashdown Business Park. In addition there is  a very outline scheme for building at Owlsbury Farm although this is not yet an application.

"Both these suggestions are very unpopular and I just want to assure Conservative members and supporters that Helen, Laura and I  are  completely opposed to both propositions.

"The Green Party have been telling people that we will not be able to oppose these proposals. This is untrue.

"Planning applications are not and legally cannot be subject to a party whip as the Greens are suggesting.

"If there were to be considered as part of a Local Plan in due course, we  would oppose them all the way. We will be in a much better position to influence decisions than a Green Party with four or five representatives on the Council.”
