Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, has been updated on changes to local Post Office services and learnt that the Post Office services provided by Ridgewood have temporarily closed at all of its Outreach locations due to the impact of Covid-19.
The Outreach service operating from Chelwood Gate, Danehill Social Club and Nutley closed in March 2020. All services were initially temporarily ceased due to the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic however are not now able to re-open for operational issues.
The Ridgewood branch itself remains open. Please see details on opening hours here.
Post Office Limited have given assurances that they are working to find a solution that will ensure that communities in West and East Sussex can still access Office services locally.
Nus Ghani said: “The Post Office provides vital services to Wealden residents and I am sad to hear that due to the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, local Post Office services have been forced to take steps to reduce their services. I have previously worked with several communities across Wealden to keep Post Offices open and I am committed to continue to lobby Post Office Ltd. when they make decisions that impact the local community.”
“I urge affected Wealden residents to share their concerns and views via the following Consultation Hub link: Consultation Hub - Ridgewood Outreach Service. You can also direct any questions regarding this closure to the National Consultation Team at email@example.com. (Please note that your comments will not be kept confidential unless you expressly ask for them to be done so).”
"Previously, three other Post Office services were under threat of closure in Hailsham, Groombridge and Mayfield, and we have successfully fought for them to remain open. Following its temporary closure, I am delighted that the Forest Row Post Office branch has now reopened, and I hope that the suspended outreach services provided by Ridgewood will soon resume.”
