WEALDEN WASTE CALENDARS GO PAPERLESS

Wealden’s bin collection calendars are going paperless. As usual we will be carrying out waste collections over Christmas and New Year with some minor changes to collection days.  Information about our Christmas collection dates will be made available to every household in the next few weeks.  Our crews will be leaving a hanger on your general rubbish bin during December.  However we won’t be sending out revised calendars for 2020. Apart from the Christmas period there won’t be any other changes to your normal collection day.  Details about your scheduled collection days can be found online.  Or you can sign up to weekly reminders though the Council’s MyAlerts email newsletter.

“More than 15,000 residents already receive a personalised weekly email telling them about their next household waste, recycling and garden waste collection,” said Alex White, head of Customer Services at Wealden District Council. “MyAlerts is a free weekly reminder sent to your email account. You can access it on your smartphone, tablet or pc. It also contains other useful news about local activities including local planning applications. You can subscribe to MyAlerts and receive your free weekly reminder of bin collections at www.wealden.gov.uk/myalerts

“We’ll make sure people get information about the changes to collections over the  Christmas period. There aren’t any other changes.  What we will not be doing this year is spending more than £30,000 to post a printed version of a calendar to every household in the District just to tell them that nothing has changed.

“This uses a tonne of paper which at the end of every year becomes redundant.”

“You can download a calendar of your bin collection dates for 2020 from our website, if you would prefer to print one out yourself. Residents with no online access can phone

our Customer Service Team on 01323 443322. We will then ensure you receive full information about your collection dates in a suitable format.

Other members of the East Sussex Joint Waste Partnership are taking the same approach in order to save money and reduce waste.

Calendars for rubbish, recycling and garden waste collections for 2020 will be available online from Monday 2 December 2019.  These will include collection day changes over the Christmas holidays. You can view them and print out a copy here: http://www.wealden.gov.uk/

Remember: you can always find information about your scheduled weekly collection from the Bin Day Search facility on the home page of the Wealden website, www.wealden.gov.uk.  This will also have the latest updates about our collection services.

Online access is available to many Council services, including making payments for council tax and housing.  You can create a MyWealden (https://my.wealden.gov.uk/) online account to access these service 24/7.
