GHANI WELCOMES PROGRESS IN VACCINE ROLLOUT IN WEALDEN Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, has welcomed progress in Covid-19 vaccination rollout in Wealden, with more sites operating from this week. Following the vaccine rollout at the Meads Medical Centre in Uckfield, the Saxonbury House Medical Centre in Crowborough is now also offering vaccines for patients at Ashdown Forest Health Centre, Beacon Surgery, Wadhurst Medical Group, Groombridge and Hartfield Medical Group, Rotherfield Surgery, Saxonbury House Surger

We have reached our goal of offering a vaccine to the top four priority groups by 15 February, meaning over 15 million most vulnerable people have been offered the jab! The Sussex vaccination programme continues in full swing and nearly 450,000 vaccinations have been given to date.

This fantastic progress marks an important milestone in our fightback against the virus and each dose administered represents a triumph over the virus.

The rollout has been a great success across Wealden, and I want to thank everyone involved in this huge national effort, especially the Sussex Health and Care Partnership, East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, our local NHS leaders in East Sussex, all GP practices in Wealden and volunteers who have made the vaccine rollout happen.

🏠 East Sussex 🏠

✅ 92% of all 80s
✅ 92% of over 75s
✅ 90% of over 70s
✅ 87% of all extremely clinically vulnerable
✅ all eligible care home residents, with the exception of those care homes with Covid outbreaks, who will be offered the vaccine at earliest opportunity
✅ deliveries of the vaccines continue to homebound patients

Vaccines are our way out of this pandemic, and I would like to urge everyone who has been invited to book an appointment but not yet done so, please do take up the offer as soon as possible. You can contact your GP, book online via the NHS website HERE, or call 119 free of charge, anytime between 7am and 11pm, seven days a week.

💉 Vaccinations now offered to over 65s and "at risk" groups  💉

From today, people aged over 65 and individuals aged 16-64 in an “at risk” group are also starting to receive letters inviting them to book their vaccination appointment.

Please note that the timing of when people will get the vaccination depends on the availability of the vaccine. This is the largest vaccination programme ever undertaken and it will take some time to get to everyone.

❗ New Testing Site ❗

I am pleased that the testing capacity across Wealden continues to expand. In addition to site at Croft Road car park in Crowborough, a new Local Test Site has opened at the South Road Car Park (BN27 2AU) in Hailsham.

Anyone experiencing a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste should book a test at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus,  by calling 119, or using the NHS Covid-19 app.

🌈 National Booking Service opened up to health and care staff  🌈

The majority of eligible health and care staff in Sussex have already received their first vaccination. Those that have yet to take up the offer are now able to book their appointment at one of the vaccination centres or pharmacy-led vaccination services through the national NHS booking service website or by calling 119.

👉🏽 Update on Covid cases and infection rates 👈🏽

Fantastic news! New cases in Wealden continue to decline from 316 to 197 cases reported on 3rd and 10th February respectively.
