Claire has lived in Hunters Way for over 30 years. She is married to Chris and they have two adult daughters and a grandson. She works in her husband’s business, which is based in Uckfield.
Claire has helped and supported many individuals, residents’ groups and businesses on a wide range of matters, including planning, recycling and refuse collection, housing, anti-social behaviour, road safety and speed limits, licensing and environmental health issues.
Part of Claire’s role at Wealden District Council includes responsibility for rivers and emergency incidents including flooding. When Claire first became a councillor she worked hard to ensure a floodwall was built to help protect the bottom of Uckfield High Street. More recently, Claire has been working with the Council on its Property Flood Resilience Project.
Phase One has helped protect properties across the District, including houses in Uckfield. Claire successfully lobbied for an additional £100,000 for Phase Two which extends the project to the remaining high-risk properties.
Along with Helen Firth, Claire has been elected as district councillors for New Town ward for May 2019's district council elections. This covers West Park, New town West, Harlands and New Town.
