I was delighted to be selected the Conservative Party candidate for the Hailsham North West Ward, where I live, in the Town Council By- Election, and more delighted still to have been elected. Thank you for your support in electing me to represent you.
Having been a Hailsham resident and small business owner for many years, I care passionately about the town and its’ people and would be thrilled to have the opportunity of representing the part of the town that I live in and call my home.
Now elected to serve on the town council, I will do my best to promote the needs of the residents of this area, in a positive and constructive way, looking to work with all of my colleagues within the Council.
Over the years that I have lived here, we have seen many changes, for the better, to our town. There are, though, still improvements that I, and I am sure you, would like to see. Whilst I will work hard to help deliver these, I will never forget that it is your money the Council is spending, and I will do my best to ensure that delivering value for money underpins any financial decisions that are made on your behalf.
I believe that Hailsham has the energy and vibrancy to have a great future and it is a privilege to now play a role in delivering this for you and your families.
A VIBRANT TOWN
The heart of our great market town is its high street and our wonderful local businesses.
Hailsham Town Council Conservatives put together, and helped to create, a successful rescue plan for the Post Office.
Wealden Conservatives will invest in the town centre while preserving its essential character and attraction to locals and visitors alike. As councillors, we will continue to work with the Chamber of Commerce, local businesses, clubs and societies, and the Hailsham Community Group forum to enhance the quality of community life.
EXPANDED MEDICAL SERVICES FOR HAILSHAM
We value our local NHS. Hailsham’s size justifies expanded medical facilities. Wealden Conservatives are embedding expansion of medical services in the town into the Local Plan.
We will prioritise this in our own investment plans for Hailsham at District-level, working with NHS partners, with whom we are already in discussion, to deliver it. This will include expanded GP surgery capacity, specialist services, and a Minor Injuries Unit.
Sustainable Development
Hailsham Conservatives believe that new housing must be built in a sustainable manner. It must be appropriate to, and prioritise local needs, and be accompanied by new infrastructure to support it, with greater access to open spaces. We will promote the Neighbourhood plan as approved by Hailsham residents in May.
Conservatives are investing £42.8 million in the town’s education facilities.
Our councillors are bringing forward the delivery of key junction improvements on the A22; South Rd/ Ersham Rd and Diplocks Way.
We’ll work with County and District colleagues to hold Southern Water and poor housing developers to account.
