Cllr Reed is a Crowborough Town Councillor (for Central Ward) as well as a former town Mayor, as well as a Wealden District Council member for Crowborough Central where he is a member of the authority's Overview and Scrutiny Committee as well as the Standards Committee.
Ron Reed was born in Clacton-on-Sea and, after briefly living in Kent, moved with his wife to Crowborough, where they have lived for nearly 40 years. Prior to retiring three years ago, he became a Councillor serving on Crowborough Town Council and was elected Town Mayor last year.
Before his election as Mayor he was chairman of the Sports, Recreation and Cemetery committee. In his spare time he volunteers at The Bluebell Heritage Steam Railway at Sheffield Park and last year undertook the six months training to become a qualified guard. His hobbies are keeping tropical fish, visiting the theatre and walking his faithful dog.
