COUNTY'S SCHOOLS WELCOME BACK MORE STUDENTS

SECONDARY schools across East Sussex are welcoming back more students with a range of measures in place to ensure they can come back to the classroom safely. 

Huge efforts are also continuing behind the scenes to keep remote learning going during the pandemic.

PM's UPDATE ON COVID AND LOCKDOWN

The Prime Minister has set out further changes to lockdown measures in England to enable people to see more of their friends and family, help businesses get back on their feet and get people back in their jobs.

WEALDEN RAIL STATION RE-VAMPS - ERIDGE FIRST

Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, is delighted that her successful campaigning to secure accessibility improvements at both Crowborough and Eridge train stations has started to have an impact. 
 

WEALDEN RETIREMENT LIVING LETTINGS RE-OPEN

Wealden District Council are pleased to once again accept applications for letting to their retirement living courts. The Council had to cease lettings on 23 March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

MP WELCOMES GRANTS FOR WEALDEN SPORT

Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, is delighted that after raising the issue of lack of investment in local football clubs with the Premier League, seven grants worth £14,500 in total have been awarded to clubs in Wealden through the Pitch Preparation Club.

MP COMMENTS ON CHANGES TO LOCAL POST OFFICE SERVICES

Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, has been updated on changes to local Post Office services and learnt that the Post Office services provided by Ridgewood have temporarily closed at all of its Outreach locations due to the impact of Covid-19.

WEALDEN BENEFITS FROM UNPRECEDENTED MEASURES

Wealden has received unprecedented economic support to protect jobs and businesses during the Coronavirus outbreak. 12,100 jobs have been protected through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, with Government grants covering 80 per cent of people’s wages, up to £2,500 a month. 

BEWARE COVID CONS AND SCAMS

RESIDENTS are being warned about scammers using the Covid-19 crisis to con them out of their hard-earned cash.

East Sussex Trading Standards team is using Scams Awareness Fortnight, which runs from June 15 to June 28, to remind the public to be on their guard.

EASING THE LOCKDOWN FURTHER

The Prime Minister has announced that from this weekend, single adult households will be able to mix with one other household in ‘support bubbles’, helping those who are suffering from loneliness during this difficult time.

MP SADDENED BY SCHOOL CLOSURE

Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, was saddened to hear that Ashdown House Preparatory School has announced its closure at the end of this academic year.
