Wealden District Council - Mayfield & Five Ashes
Dr Brian Redman was born in Sussex and has lived in Mayfield since 1987. Brian was first elected as a District Councillor for Mayfield and Five Ashes in May 1991. In his years on the Council he has actively represented Mayfield and has held positions as Chairman of the Review Board and as Chairman of the Internal and Audit Scrutiny Committee. He is currently Chairman of the Council, a position he has held since May 2013. Brian is retired and although an active member of the Mayfield Bowls Club has the time and energy to serve the local community.
His wife, Dr Deveda Redman, is a retired GP and is a Mayfield Parish Councillor. They have two grown up children – Paul, who is a Consultant Surgeon, living and working in Surrey, and Caroline, who is an Aeronautical Engineer, working in Sussex and living in Mayfield. They have five grandchildren, the youngest of whom attends Mayfield Primary School.
Brian was a Director of an international pharmaceutical company and has worked in the UK, Europe and in the USA. He actively supports the voluntary sector and is a past Member of the Executive of the local Abbeyfield Society in Heathfield, which provides sheltered housing for the elderly. He is a past Chairman of the Wealden Federation of Voluntary Organisations.
Brian brings to Local Government his considerable experience in planning, organisation and business methods. He is a life long Conservative who actively works to keep Mayfield alive and vital as a community.
